Description

The Gryphon Classic is a light, flexible field hockey shin guard. A soft fabric lining under the guard cushions ball and stick impacts on the shin.

Comfort in play

Air holes let heat escape, so the leg stays cooler during a match. The guard is flexible and moulds to the shape of the leg over time – the longer it is worn, the better it fits.

Sizes

Gryphon measures the guard along the centre line of its longest side: S – 30 cm, M – 33 cm, L – 36 cm. Pick the size to match shin length.

Colour: white.

About Gryphon

Gryphon is an Australian brand based in Perth, Western Australia. Its story began in the late 1970s, when Peter Haselhurst, a hockey player and physics student, started reinforcing broken sticks with fibreglass and resin. In the early 1980s he co-founded the company with team-mate Richard Charlesworth, and the brand was officially launched in 1983. In 1990 Gryphon built its first composite stick from fibreglass, carbon and resin. Today Gryphon makes composite sticks in ranges such as Tour (with Kraibon, an energy-absorbing material, for a more cushioned touch) and Taboo (Blue Steel, Striker and Dekoda variants), as well as bags, protective gear and goalkeeping equipment. The company describes its line-up as covering players from entry level to elite, with different stiffness levels and bow shapes.

Sizes

Not sure which size to choose? The size guide has a stick length chart based on height, plus guidance on shinguards, gloves and footwear.

Sizing differs between brands. If the product comes with a manufacturer size chart, go by the measurements in centimetres rather than the size letter alone.
