Hockey goalkeeping kit – leg guards, kickers, helmet and protectors: 25 models from our range and their sizes

Red TK3 Legguards hockey goalkeeper leg guards on a white background

This is a follow-up to the post Goalkeeper kit from scratch – what a set consists of and how to build it up. That post explains what the rules require, what a full set consists of and in what order to buy it. Here we go down to specific products: the hockey goalkeeping kit in our range is twenty-five TK models, from helmets through goalkeeper leg guards and kickers to hand, body, elbow and neck protectors, in the three lines TK1, TK2 and TK3. We show what is in each line, what sizes the product pages give, which items have junior versions, how much each item costs and how to put together a set for a child and for a senior from all this.

The product data comes from the product pages in our shop as of October 2026, and the prices from product pages checked on 3 November 2026. Sizes and colours are given as the manufacturer wrote them; for some models the product page gives no size, and then we say so outright. Check the product page for current sizes, colours and prices.

What to keep in mind from the rules when buying

The FIH rules require a goalkeeper to wear at least a helmet, leg guards and kickers, and the goalkeeper’s shirt must differ in colour from the shirts of both teams. The other items of protection, from hand protectors to a neck guard, are permitted, and they decide how a goalkeeper feels facing a shot from close range. The rules also limit the dimensions of hand and leg protectors; we covered those limits, and when the helmet may be removed, in the base post, so we do not repeat them here. The obligations in a given competition are set by its regulations.

The three TK lines: what is in TK1, TK2 and TK3

All the goalkeeping kit in our range comes from TK and is marked with a line number. The number is not a size: each line has separate products for legs, feet, hands and body, and the size is chosen within the product. In the shop data the lines look like this:

  • TK1 – ten products: TK1 Soft Legguards, TK1 Soft Kickers, TK1 Hand Protector Left, TK1 Hand Protector Right, TK1 Chest/Shoulder Guard, TK1 DH Chest/Shoulder Guard, TK1 DH Abdominal Guard Men, TK1 DH Safety Goalie Pants, TK1 Arm/Elbow Guard and TK1 GTP Plexiglas. The sizes given on the product pages start at S-M and go up to L-XL and XL.
  • TK2 – five products: TK2 Legguards, TK2 Kickers, TK2 Hand Protector Left, TK2 Hand Protector Right and TK2 Safety Goalie Pants (sizes L and M).
  • TK3 – eight products: TK3 Legguards, TK3 Kickers, TK3 Glove Set, TK3 Chest/Shoulder Guard, TK3 Abdominal Guard Men, TK3 Goalie Pants, TK3 Arm/Elbow Guard and TK3 Neck Protector. The sizes on the product pages are XXS-XS, XS-S, XS, S and S-M, the smallest in the whole range.
  • Helmets – two models: TK Goalie Mask Performance (size M-L) and TK Junior Goalie Mask (the product page gives only the colour).

The sizes on the product pages alone show the division we described in general terms in the base post: the TK3 line has sizes from XXS to S-M, the TK1 line from S-M to XL. If you are buying for a child, you start with TK3; for an adult, with TK2 or TK1. Three TK1 products carry the “DH” marking in their names, which the product pages do not explain; in the shop data the TK1 Chest/Shoulder Guard comes in size S-M and the TK1 DH Chest/Shoulder Guard in sizes M-L and L-XL, so the two chest guards together cover the range from S-M to L-XL.

Item by item: what is in the range

Helmet: Performance and Junior

The helmet is the first item required by the rules and the first thing to buy as your own, even when the club lends the rest. There are two models in the range. The TK Goalie Mask Performance has size M-L and the colour black on its product page; the manufacturer describes it as protection for the head and face when saving shots. The TK Junior Goalie Mask is intended for junior goalkeepers; the product page gives the colour black and no size, so the child’s head circumference has to be compared with the manufacturer’s table, or ask us before buying. The Performance helmet costs PLN 758, the Junior PLN 542.

A neck guard goes with the helmet: the TK3 Neck Protector covers the neck and nape during saves, costs PLN 130 and has only the colour black on its product page. A separate product is the TK1 GTP Plexiglas, a transparent item which, according to the product page, completes the goalkeeper set; the page does not say outright which part of the body it protects, so ask before buying whether it fits your helmet.

Goalkeeper leg guards

Goalkeeper leg guards, known in Poland as “parkany”, are listed on the TK product pages as Legguards. They protect the shins and knees and take shots when saving with the legs. There are three models in the range, one in each line:

  • TK1 Soft Legguards – colours black and red, no size on the product page; according to the description they protect the shins and knees during saves. Price PLN 2,057.
  • TK2 Legguards – colours black and red, no size on the product page; the description speaks of receiving and rebounding the ball confidently when saving shots. Price PLN 1,472.
  • TK3 Legguards – sizes S and XS, colour red; according to the product page they protect the front of the legs when blocking and rebounding the ball. Price PLN 867.

Leg guards are chosen by leg length: they should reach from ankle to knee and not get in the way of kneeling on one knee, as we described in the base post. For TK1 and TK2 the product page gives no sizes, so write to us with the goalkeeper’s height before ordering; for TK3 the choice is S or XS.

Kickers: covers for the shoes

Kickers go over the shoes; they are used to block and kick the ball away with the foot. They are put together with leg guards from the same line, because they attach to each other with straps. There are three models in the range:

  • TK1 Soft Kickers – colours black and red, no size on the product page; the manufacturer writes that they complement the leg guards of the same series. Price PLN 1,342.
  • TK2 Kickers – colours black and red, no size on the product page. Price PLN 953.
  • TK3 Kickers – size S, colour red. Price PLN 520.

Kickers are tried on with the shoes the goalkeeper plays in: turf shoes on grass, flat-soled indoor shoes in the hall. So when you change shoes, it is worth checking that the kickers still sit well. How a goalkeeper’s game differs indoors and what wears out faster there, we described in the post on the goalkeeper in indoor hockey.

Hand protectors: left, right or a set

In the TK1 and TK2 lines, hand protectors are bought separately for the left and right hand, because they work differently: the left protects the hand and blocks, the right protects and helps rebound the ball when saving shots while also holding the stick. The TK3 line has a set for both hands.

  • TK1 Hand Protector Left (black, red) and TK1 Hand Protector Right (black) – no size on the product page, PLN 628 each.
  • TK2 Hand Protector Left and TK2 Hand Protector Right – both in black and red, no size on the product page, PLN 498 each.
  • TK3 Glove Set – a set for both hands, size S-M, colour red, PLN 477 per set.

So a pair of TK1 protectors costs PLN 1,256, a pair of TK2 PLN 996, and the TK3 set PLN 477. When buying single protectors, check the “Hand” field on the product page: Left is the left hand, Right the right. The dimensions of hand protectors are limited by an FIH rule, as we wrote in the base post; the products in the range are goalkeeping kit intended for play under those rules.

Body, hips, elbows: the rest of the set

The remaining items are not required by the FIH rules, but they belong to a goalkeeper’s full playing equipment: at close-range shots and at a penalty corner they are what decides whether a goalkeeper goes into the ball without hesitation. There are four groups in the range.

Chest and shoulder guards

The TK1 Chest/Shoulder Guard (size S-M) and the TK1 DH Chest/Shoulder Guard (M-L, L-XL) cost PLN 867 each; the TK3 Chest/Shoulder Guard in sizes XS-S and S-M costs PLN 693. According to their product pages, all of them protect the torso and shoulders, taking hits from the ball when saving shots. There is no chest guard in the TK2 line in our data.

Protective pants

The pants protect the hips and thighs. The TK1 DH Safety Goalie Pants come in sizes L, M and XL and cost PLN 867, the TK2 Safety Goalie Pants in sizes L and M for PLN 650, and the TK3 Goalie Pants in sizes S and XS for PLN 520. This is the only item apart from the helmet that appears in all three lines and has sizes on every product page.

Abdominal guard

The shop data has two models in a men’s version: the TK1 DH Abdominal Guard Men (sizes L and M) for PLN 238 and the TK3 Abdominal Guard Men (no size on the product page) for PLN 130. There is no women’s or junior version in our data, so for female goalkeepers and children ask about availability separately.

Elbow and forearm protectors

The TK1 Arm/Elbow Guard comes in sizes S-M, M-L and L-XL and costs PLN 520; the TK3 Arm/Elbow Guard has sizes XXS-XS and XS-S and costs PLN 368. According to the product pages they protect the arm and elbow during saves. Size XXS-XS in the TK3 line is the smallest size in the whole goalkeeping range.

Twenty-five models in one table

The comparison covers all the products in the goalkeeping kit category in our data, grouped by body part. All of them are labelled on the product page for play on grass and indoors. The “Sizes” column shows exactly what is on the product page; “not on product page” means the manufacturer gave no size in the shop data.

A set for a child and a set for a senior: three examples with prices

From the table you can put together three example sets matching the three lines. We add up prices from 3 November 2026, and the totals cover only the three items required by the rules plus hand protectors, that is a subset of the kit, not full playing equipment: a goalkeeper plays in full protection and borrows from the club the items they do not yet own, as we described in the base post.

  • Junior, first purchases of your own (TK3): TK Junior Goalie Mask (PLN 542) + TK3 Legguards (PLN 867) + TK3 Kickers (PLN 520) = PLN 1,929 for the three items required by the rules; with the TK3 Glove Set (PLN 477) the total is PLN 2,406. Sizes S and XS for the leg guards, S for the kickers and S-M for the hand set make this equipment for a smaller goalkeeper; before buying, compare them with the child’s height and shoe size.
  • Adult at a club (TK2 with the Performance helmet): TK Goalie Mask Performance (PLN 758) + TK2 Legguards (PLN 1,472) + TK2 Kickers (PLN 953) = PLN 3,183; with a pair of TK2 hand protectors (PLN 996) the total is PLN 4,179.
  • Top line (TK1 with the Performance helmet): TK Goalie Mask Performance (PLN 758) + TK1 Soft Legguards (PLN 2,057) + TK1 Soft Kickers (PLN 1,342) = PLN 4,157; with a pair of TK1 hand protectors (PLN 1,256) the total is PLN 5,413.

Lines can be mixed, for example TK2 leg guards and kickers with TK3 hand protectors, as long as the sizes fit the goalkeeper. The one pair worth keeping together is leg guards and kickers from the same line, because they attach to each other and the manufacturer describes the kickers as complementing the leg guards of the same series.

How to read the sizes on the product pages

In TK goalkeeping kit, sizes are written in three ways and each means something different.

  • Combined sizes (XXS-XS, XS-S, S-M, M-L, L-XL) – on chest guards, elbow guards, hand sets and the Performance helmet. One product covers two neighbouring sizes; if your measurement is on the border, compare both variants if they exist.
  • Single sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL) – on TK3 leg guards, kickers and pants, on TK1 and TK2 pants and on the TK1 abdominal guard.
  • No size on the product page – on TK1 and TK2 leg guards and kickers, single hand protectors, the neck guard and the junior helmet. This does not mean the product is one-size: the manufacturer makes leg guards and kickers in several sizes chosen by height and shoe size, so before ordering write to us with those two numbers.

Field players who defend penalty corners do not need a goalkeeper set: face masks, knee guards and gloves for corner defence are in the category field hockey protection.

Grass and indoor: the same set

All twenty-five products are labelled on the product page for play on grass and indoors, so you do not buy a new set for the indoor season. Before the first indoor tournament it is nevertheless worth looking over the foam of the kickers and leg guards, the straps and velcro, the stick grip in the right hand protector, and trying the kickers on with indoor shoes. A step-by-step check is in the post on the goalkeeper in indoor hockey, linked above.

What to carry it all in

A full goalkeeper set does not fit in an ordinary stick bag. The range includes the TK5 Goalie Bag, a goalkeeper bag designed for leg guards, kickers, helmet and the rest of the set; bags and backpacks for field players and goalkeepers are gathered in the category hockey bags and backpacks. After training it is worth taking the leg guards and kickers out of the bag to dry.

Questions before buying goalkeeping kit

  • Where to start when the club lends kit? With the helmet, because it is the most personal item and is required by the rules; then hand protectors. Club leg guards and kickers can serve for another season if they fit in size.
  • TK3 or TK2 for a child? In the shop data only TK3 has sizes XS, XXS-XS and S, so for a smaller goalkeeper the choice starts with that line. An older junior of adult height may already try TK2.
  • Can you buy kickers on their own? Yes, but try them on with the leg guards you have: kickers attach to the leg guards with straps and the manufacturer describes them as complementing the same series.
  • Are hand protectors bought as a pair? In TK1 and TK2 separately for each hand, in TK3 as a set. If one glove is worn out, in TK1 and TK2 you replace only that one.
  • Is this kit compliant with the rules? It is goalkeeping kit intended for outdoor and indoor hockey; the requirements for the dimensions of hand and leg protectors are set by the FIH rules, and the competition regulations may add their own. Check both before the season.

How to put a set together in four steps

  • Step 1: line by size. Child – TK3 (sizes XXS–S-M). Adult – TK2 or TK1 (from S-M to XL).
  • Step 2: the three items required by the rules. Helmet (Junior or Performance), leg guards and kickers from the same line.
  • Step 3: hands. The TK3 Glove Set or a Left and Right pair in TK1 or TK2.
  • Step 4: the rest of the playing equipment. Chest guard, pants, abdominal guard, elbows, neck, and finally a goalkeeper bag; until you own them, borrow them from the club, because full equipment is needed to play.

The three items required by the rules cost PLN 1,929 in the TK3 line and PLN 3,183 in the TK2 line with the Performance helmet (prices from 3 November 2026); that is a subset of the equipment, not all of it. If you do not know which size of leg guards or kickers to order, write to us with the goalkeeper’s height and shoe size. All twenty-five models can be found in the category hockey goalkeeping kit.
