It looks simple until you have to choose between S and M or compare two brands. In this post we explain what these designations tell you and what they do not, and show which sizes the Grays, TK and Osaka shin guards and gloves in our range come in.

What the letters on a product page mean

A letter size is a manufacturer’s designation, not a measurement. Behind each letter is a size chart that the manufacturer sets for its own models. The same M from two brands does not have to mean the same shin guard length or the same hand width, so sizes from different brands are not worth transferring one to one.

On the product pages in our shop we give letter designations, without centimetres. You will also come across two ways of writing the smallest size: Grays writes 2XS and Osaka XXS. Both are read the same way (“double extra small”), but the measurement behind them comes from that brand’s chart. When you need numbers, have a look at the size guide page or write to us via the contact form.

Grays, TK and Osaka sizes in our range

The figures in this comparison come from the shop's range as of October 2026; check the product page for current sizes, colours and available lengths. The “Variant” column shows whether the product is labelled in this data for outdoor play on grass (Outdoor), indoor play (Indoor), or both.

Model

Brand

Type

Size designations

Variant

Grays G600 Shinguard

Grays

shin guard

2XS, XS, S, M, L

Indoor, Outdoor

Grays G700 Pro Shinguard

Grays

shin guard

S, M, L, XL

Indoor, Outdoor

Grays Shield Shinguard

Grays

shin guard

2XS, XS, S

Indoor, Outdoor

Osaka Keigo Shinguard

Osaka

shin guard

XXS, XS, S

Indoor, Outdoor

Osaka Shinguard

Osaka

shin guard

S, M, L

Indoor, Outdoor

Grays Anatomic Pro

Grays

glove

XS, S, M, L

Outdoor

Grays Apex Touch

Grays

glove

XS, S, M, L, XL

Outdoor

Grays International Pro

Grays

glove

2XS, XS, S, M, L

Outdoor

Grays Proflex 1000

Grays

glove

XS, S, M, L, XL

Outdoor

Osaka Armadillo Glove

Osaka

glove

S, M, L

Outdoor

TK PC Glove Set

TK

glove set

S-M, M-L

Indoor, Outdoor

What the table shows

Smallest sizes. In our range, the 2XS or XXS designation is available on the Grays G600, Grays Shield and Osaka Keigo shin guards and on the Grays International Pro gloves. The TK PC Glove Set is a set labelled “Hand: Both”.

Double sizes at TK. The TK set has the designations S-M and M-L. Both include M, so for a hand in size M the manufacturer’s size chart will make the decision easier.

TK in this comparison. In the supplied data, TK appears in the glove section; the shin guards compared here are examples from Grays and Osaka.

How to try on a shin guard

A shin guard should cover the shin from just below the knee to the area above the ankle. One that is too long can push under the kneecap when the leg bends or rest against the foot, while one that is too short leaves part of the shin uncovered. Try it on with your socks and in the shoes you play in, because the socks hold the shin guard in place on the leg.

Put on the shin guard, pull up your socks and do a few squats and a short run on the spot.

Check that the shin guard does not shift sideways or slide down towards the ankle.

Bend your knee: the top edge should not press on the kneecap.

If you are unsure between two sizes, measure the shin and compare the result with the manufacturer’s chart for that model.

What is compulsory in protective kit is covered in the post shin guards and mouthguard – what is compulsory.

How to try on a glove

A left-hand glove works at the top of the handle, so it is best to try it on with a stick in your hand. The glove should sit securely on the hand, allow the fingers to bend freely and let you grip the stick securely. Assess the finger fit according to the design: half-finger gloves leave the fingertips exposed.

Grip the stick as you do in training and turn it a few times, as when carrying the ball.

Check that the fingers bend freely and nothing presses on the knuckles.

Pay attention to the wrist: the glove should not restrict its movement or slip off the hand.

With a set of two gloves, such as the TK PC Glove Set, check both hands, because the right hand slides along the handle when receiving and passing.

When a glove for grass makes sense and how the designs differ, we described in the post on the field glove and how to choose it.

When the size is in doubt

The letter on the product page is a starting point; the deciding factors are the manufacturer’s size chart and a fitting. If a player is between sizes, measure them in the kit they play in and compare with the chart for that specific model, not with the size they have from another brand. When buying for a child, bear in mind that a shin guard one size too big can shift on the leg. If you are not sure, write to us via the contact form with the model name and a description of the player, and we will check the designations in the manufacturer’s chart.

You will find the current sizes and colours of Grays and Osaka shin guards in the category shin guards in our shop.

How to read letter sizes on shin guards and gloves, why there are two spellings, 2XS and XXS, and which designations Grays, TK and Osaka have in our range.

[98

post-32407","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-poradniki
["GET
